Keith, should there be a "no tricks - kite must remain in a tangential position at all times" rule in place?? :) Otherwise these impromptu pairs "re-unions" are going to take until midnight..!!:):)

Let's hope the weather holds. Even though the BBC are predicting rain there's still the possibility that most of it will miss this part of the country.

Where's this great flying site?

We're in Cardiff next Friday PM & Saturday. If the WRC Rally isn't exciting enough for us we may come up to fly.. as long as we can get around Cardiff in the car!

What was the rule - a pint to the instructor per axel :D

I'm planning on the Airheads only owing a pint then - between us :P

Hope you and Jim have been practising - pilots meeting 14:45

Yeah, now about the whole "practise" thing - what's that mean again?

Ah well. Slight shame about the lack of wind at the start of the afternoon but it picked up nicely at the end. There was even enough to keep the Longbottom's turtle afloat for a while.

Steve/Jim did very well flying a routine they hadn't seen for a year, they even went out onto the field prepared to fly a routine they didn't know to music which they hadn't heard. Fortunately someone located the CD at the last minute.

Thanks to Paul for lending me a T2 for the mega team. Sorry to those waiting that those of us flying the mega didn't notice how long we'd been at it. The mega team got up to 10 kites for a while, an interesting mixture of Furys, T2s, Nivarnas and a single Transfer. It didn't help that the line length varied by about 30 feet from shortest to longest.

We've got some video footage of the various routines, I'll try and offload it from the camera next week and cut it into some sensible form. [ Paul/Doug/Anyone if you have the original CDs of the music you were flying to email me an MP3 of the track and I'll dub it over, it sounds a lot better that way. ]

A big thankyou to everyone who performed or helpe out in any way.

Phillip, I'll mail you the Toccatta & Airheads music.

I thought Jim & Steve flew really well, seeing as they had me shouting in their ear 'oles :-$

A special thankyou to Jess, she came up with our emergency light wind tails (a cassette!) and had her first go at ground crewing, looking a bit worried when I told her how long she had to fit the tails during the routine, but Jess & Sharon performed splendidly.

I would have thanked Sharon properly, but I fell asleep

Perhaps the most impressive part of the routines was not a single half axel let alone anything more complicated for at least 15 minutes..!!!

The slightly surreal sight of a bride and groom flying kites in a field will stay with me forever. :) Here's wishing good luck, health and happiness to Keith and Vee on their amazing journey.:) and thanks for a great day!! :)

Steve

You weren't looking hard enough!

There were opposing simultaneous half axels in the airheads routine - that was before we put the tails on :D

Very good day, tho'
