If anybody knows a good venue where we could meet (especially if we could camp there as well) shout.

Another vote for the local option. Single day option is much better for me (particularly from April til October) and two hours from the Manchester area is about as far as I'm willing to travel for a single day of flying.

Hinckley is a proven location that most Northern and Midland fliers are willing to travel to. Shame that Beasley fellow has moved to Devon though. I got the felling he knew his stuff.

I do enjoy the day-long coaching sessions and such, and established meets like Crantock and the Jolly Up(s) are always superb chill and fly weekends.

Our issue has always been being inspiring enough to encourage folk to travel.

FWIW, I'm out for this season anyways (working 7 days) but there are several outstanding locations close by with great camping and B&B options if anyone fancies a trip down for a weekender and trick clinic sessions.

I know every-time we do it, and a number attend, they are great sessions.

what does everyone think of Dunstable Downs (M1 junction 9 i think) as a possible venue? (not sure if they allow camping though)

Only useable if you get the permission of the Flying Squad. Seriously, STACK are going to use it for the rescheduled final round next Sunday and the NT checked with Stephen before saying yes to STACK.

No camping on site, definately.

Dunstable is great for me! Without wanting to stir anything up at all, it is a public area with free access to all, plenty of space and there are people there every day flying without getting permission from the Flying Squad! I don't know how many people generally turn up to this sort of event but I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem - were you planning on having a "reserved area" or something?

Anyway, the FS guys just stake out their kites on the ground and stand around chatting most of the time, they don't take up much airspace

Dunstable sounds good to me, there are loads of campsites around there.....
