Broadhaven, Pembrokeshire

Broadhaven, Pembs - Sat 9 April. White Cloud.
Low tide 16:14. Wind speed 13mph. Wind direction WNW
(Forecast info from http://www.britishbeaches.info/broadhav ... ther-tides )

I'm intending to be there after lunch on Saturday, for the maiden flight of my new Shadow SUL (and with my Silver Fox Std as backup). I'd greatly enjoy a bit of expert company!

Well obviously I'm sitting in front of a computer
Met office says Milford Haven 18mph gusting to 29mph;it certainly feels a bit erratic just outside the house at the mo'.
Gotta pop to Tesco,

Well I went anyway!
While I was there I was guessing 30mph. So of course the new SUL stayed in its bag and out came the Silver Fox. Scarey flying, esp. as the wind was ESE (ie, off the land & erratic) instead of the WNW forecast a couple of days ago. Got pulled all over the beach, and slightly failed to land it safely when my arms started to ache after about 45 mins. But she survived!
I'm still planning to be there again a fortnight hence. Beach flying is so GOOD!
(When I arrived there was a young lad there, prob about 12yo and all on his own, with a nice looking delta and a set of lines in one hell of a birds nest! And I did have a spare set of lines! Poor lad was still trying to untangle his lines when I left. Would have loved to stop and help him, but - sigh - these days you just can't ...)

Heading down today and hopefully there all week.

Hoping for some lighter winds so I can try out my new DS UL.

@Old Greebo - will have a couple of real Revs with me so if you want to have a go to convince you that Chinese/cheaper 4-line kites are not the way to go I'm happy to oblige (they are not for sale though).

Out and about with family today and wind looks pretty bad where I am.

Tomorrow it's football (Swansea v Reading in play off final). If weather OK may get down beach either side of match.

Sorry I can't commit to anything definite but family need entertaining.

I went and had a look. Wouldn't have wanted to trust any of my kites in that wind! Stood and watched a bloke flying a 2ft diamond-shaped toy stunt kite for half an hour, and it was really pulling him!
Quite understand re family & football. If tomorrow's like today I'll probably just saunter up to the cricket field and play with my least valuable kite (Yukon).
(Cor! Talking about chinese kites on Fractured Axel is like going into a Welsh pub and waving a St George's Cross flag!)

Saturday I measured ,if you can believe my Skywatch(tm),17mph at Broad Haven about 5pm.I have got a variable-vent kite but I haven't got the hang of it so did lots of noisy (french kite) flying in staight-ish lines.I thought it was impressing a couple of passers-by until it dawned on me they were probably more interested in the jet contrails above us.
