New Forest, anyone?

Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:32 pm

Looks like tomorrow (Sat) could be nice for flying in the p.m. Anyone up for a mini-meet (e.g. Stoney Cross or Wilverley Plain)?

Will check this thread late tomorrow a.m.

Stoney Cross is my default patch, and I'm flying there most weekends, so good chance I'll be there later on.

Sorry Stephen, I didn't see your post above until just now. We must have just missed each other, as we left a little before 3. Wind was very variable and pretty blustery at times; not as good as predictions suggested, but maybe you had more luck ...

Which part of Stoney Cross do people fly upon?

Got there just before 3 (must have just missed you); by 4 the wind was smoother and less blustery -- nice enough for the first AoxomoxoA of 2010!

There's another spot I'm tempted to try: Turf Hill -- but not when the wind is from the north, as it was today -- there's a landfill site not far north of it, and it stinks! We use it as an astro-observing venue and I rather like it!
