Crantock 2009 Gathering - 26/27/28 June.

Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:44 am

As suggested in another thread, if there is enough interest in a repeat gathering at Crantock beach in 2009, we should home in on a date.

I know a couple of the suggested dates clash with other kiting events, but I think we should still include them for now as they are the 'prime' time. In other words nice and warm but not too busy.

Bill.

6/7th June is Basingstoke Fest. Just spoken to Hailey to confirm.
WHKF "should" have a fest. on 9/10th May, once the location is finalised.
Are the STACK comp. dates set yet?

Yes, STACK dates have gone out in the newsletter this week and should appear in the Kiteflier as well.

For those non-STACK members :

Weston-Super-Mare – 18/19 April
This is a new festival, being orgainsed by Dominic Early which we have been asked to participate in.

Rougham – 16/17 May
As normal, we will have our own arena at Suffolk Kite festival.

Southampton – 20/21 June
Solent Kite Fliers, as normal, have invited us to participate in Southampton Kite Festival.

Berrington Hall – 18/19 July
As last year, Hereford Kite Festival have invited us back. It's a stunning location, National Trust country house on one side and lake on the other.

Uppark – Late August?
Another NT site with apparently appropriate site for an arena, we are in the early stages of discussions at this time. NE of Portsmouth

So the first and last dates of the proposed Crantock meet would clash :-(

The only weekend really not clashing with anything else for me is 29/30/31 May.

Hope we can make it again this year!

Think the mid June option might be a good bet and I'd really love to fly there at long last, all the other events have clashed with work :(
A NOHD will be published for the DS in due course, till then wear sunnies.

last weekend in june (not the bank holiday !) or the one after for me !

Conflicting with Blackheath again would not be good - I suspect those at Blackheath would have liked to do Crantock as well, and I would have liked to have gone to Blackheath ...... but not so much as to miss Crantock

How many have been to all three so far ?

Tony (and Mary Anne, who likes the cream teas !)

I realise that there has only been a small amount of votes/posting on this topic but

has a date been set then?

Adam, I think we need to let people consider their festivals and other commitments a bit longer and wait for a few more replies before fixing a date.

Already booked to be in Cornwall starting June 19th. If it is on I'll be popping into Crantock.

No clear indication of a date from the Poll yet, except for perhaps a preference for one of the late June options. Anyway, I think for accommodation booking reasons, we ought to firm up on a date by the end of next week. In the meantime, I will pop over and visit the local camp sites to see how bookings are going for the relevant weeks.
