I am *so* waiting to hear the justification for this

Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:12 am

Apple adds pedometer to iPod nano

If this is thinking differently then I'm just fine thinking the same. C'mon then fanboys. I wanna hear how this is game changing an' revolutionary an' so coooool an' stuff that I just don't get.

Honestly, even some bottom feeding Chinese sweat shop crap merchant would think twice about slapping on something like that onto an MP3 player. Naturally sales will go through the roof nonetheless.

I *get* it ... people jog / walk with these things all the time ... and anything
which lures them into the path of the upgrade is a good think for
Apple revenue (and my stock).

Game changing it 'aint ... and no, I won't be buying one :P

But the little video camera ... that will set the pulses racing of the high
school generation.

Pause live radio ... thats a neat feature too.

Oh boy.... you really have drank the Kool-Aid, haven't you ?

It's a completely rubbish thing to add. The camera - fine, who doesn't need more grainy YouTube videos ? - but the pedometer is laughable and trying to pass it off as anything other than that should be beneath Apple. They have by far the best product in the field and it doesn't need superfluous tat like this.

But like I said, it'll sell by the bucket load for all that. They could add a badger locator and somehow manage to spin that into increased sales.

Alas, Mike seems unlikely to ever be beautiful (and enlightened) Apple person.

I would like a badger-locator-app for my iphone! I've never seen one outside the zoo. Beavers and otters would be nice too.

A few days ago I found a letterbox-locator. For about 35 years I thoroughly missed that. You walk around in the city and it seems crowded with letterboxes, right until you have a letter in your pocket and start to look for one. I started to think that these things where actually changing places or went into hiding when nobody looks.

You can make your neighbours think that you have fluorescent lights in all the rooms in your house by quickly turning the lights on and off several times before leaving them on.

I am not surprised one little bit. :P

Life does seem to have been quite a trial for many iPhone owners prior to the existence of such a thing.

How dare you! The Sansa Clip is an incredible little player, the sound quality is exceptional, presentation is utilitarian but good, and above all, I can buy ten of them for the price of the same object with a picture of a shitting apple on it. And a pedometer.

(ps dont look at the prices on my link, you can get them for a tenner on the ebay place)

That's built-in. No need for third party apps.

A few days ago I got myself into a tight situation on my motorbike and I actually felt my thumb twitching for the Undo-Button...

back to the pedometer - my guess is that it involves no extra hardware, just some extra lines of code in the firmware - the nano already had orientation sensor hardware built in (so your videos playback the right way up), and I reckon that is what they have used for the pedometer.

Never tried an otter, but beavers are certainly very nice!

The latest Mac vs. PC (USA) ad has dropped. A reviewer notes:-

It basically suggests ridiculous "innovations" that PC thinks will help bring people back to the world of Windows.

Yes. Apple has no time for ridiculous "innovations"

Mike,
still liking the idea of an iPod Touch more than the reality.
