Denny...sorry if I attacked you. It's frustration. The place where you and I grew up doesn't exist anymore, and that hurts, angers, and terrifies me all at once. I am pleased to hear that we don't differ on these 'ideals' while both understanding that the system Americans are currently trapped in is only pretending to consider this seriously.
Sounds like you think ALOT like me(!)...revolution is required. There are quite a few criminals in need of justice, and a pretty big system protecting them from it. Every once in a while, so we are told, revolution is required to guarantee liberty. I hear bells constantly.
It's a hard realization for most Americans...that everything they thought was good isn't. That everything they've been told about what America has been corrupted and ruined by greed, and that these are not the exception, but the rule in America's ruling class. Hell, most Americans don't even understand that there is a well-established ruling class. They desperately want to believe that there is still some GOOD in the gov't. Maybe Russ Feingold. Maybe.
If the facts came out that they knew Saddam had no WMDs and wasn't involved with Osama, the concensus idea about 9/11, Iraq, and WMDs would never really change in America. Oh wait! This is what happened (anyone remember the Downing street memo?), and the concensus didn't change. Their control over the 70% non-thinking folks is absolute, and this makes revolutions nearly impossible. Scary.
Good luck over there, fella.
