Fade II (Fractured Axel)

Axel to Fade Start by popping a regular Axel, as the kite starts to rotate, instead of letting the kite do a complete rotation, as the wing tips swing around and are facing you pull then release on the opposite line to the one you popped the Axel with (i.e. if you popped with your right hand to start the rotation then pull with your left). Again the intensity of the "pull " and its timing will depend upon what kite you are flying at the time, some kites even prefer a double handed pop. The effect will be the same, that is to roll the nose under so that it is facing you and place the kite belly up.

The fade can be controlled with little hand movements if a little unstable. By appying and releasing pressure on both lines at the same time the nose of the can be made to angle up and down, when pointing up slightly wth a steady wing the kite will maintain the Fade position but will rise in the air, this is known as an elevator or rising fade. When learning to do the fade I once again found that the edge of the window due to its less hectic nature lent itself well BUT, i found that although a fade was easy to achieve it was dificult to maintain. For a steady solid Fade i find there is no better place than the middle of the window on a steady day.
